Good News Club

Good News Club is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship in which trained teachers meet with groups of children in schools, homes, community centers, churches, apartment complexes - just about anywhere the children can easily and safely meet.  Here in the South Central Area a Good News Club is held once a week for six to ten weeks during the Fall and Spring semesters of the school year.  The club last for 60 to 90 minutes.

Children attend Good News Club ONLY with parents' permission.

Can we really teach the Bible in public schools?

Yes! The Gospel has been taught freely in public schools around the world for some time.  Now children in the U.S. have that opportunity tool.  In 2001 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Good News Club vs. Milford Central School that Good New Clubs cam meet in public schools in the United States after school hours on the same terms as other community groups,

"The Good New Club gives the local church the way to

carry the Gospel into the public school then involve

the kids and their families in your church."

-Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman,

Liberty Counsel

Who teaches a Good News Clubs?

Concerned Christians work together, volunteering their time and energy to teach Good News Clubs.  They are trained by Child Evangelism Fellowship to have a club that is exciting and informative so the children will want to keep coming.  Teachers are asked to sign the CEF Statement of Faith and agree to abide to sign by the policies of the organization.  All volunteers are screened according to our Child Protection Policy.

What is taught in Good News Clubs?

Each week an exciting Bible lesson using colorful materials from CEF Press is presented.  This action-packed time also includes songs, Scripture memory, a mission story, and review game or other activities focused on the lesson's theme.

Every Club also includes strong discipleship training to build character and strengthen moral spiritual growth.   All children are encouraged to attend a local church if possible.

The Gospel

Each club includes a clear presentation of the Gospel on a child's level and an opportunity for children to trust Jesus as their Savior.

How can my church Adopt a Good News Club?

CEF offers church partners a strategic plan, materials, training, support and mentoring.  Through a God-centered partnership between the local church and CEF, children’s lives change and churches grow.

Churches come to the partnership with the most important ingredient, God’s people. A team from your church will bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the school children. CEF offers specialized training for this endeavor.

CEF takes care of the major logistics of getting a club started:  contacting the school, providing liability insurance and conducting background checks. Contact the CEF office today to find out about a local school your church can adopt.

How can I become a volunteer for a Good News Club?

As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus to children, parents, and school employees. Most clubs run for six to ten weeks in the fall or spring. Only a few clubs run year round. Volunteers are needed to teach various segments during the club, help with registration, handing out snacks, and relationship building. Training is offered for volunteers during the fall and private training sessions with individuals, teams, and churches can be arranged.

In addition to school clubs, Good News Clubs can also be held in churches, preschools, and daycares. If you would like to know more about having a club in your church, preschool or daycare contact our office.
